Science
At Wykeham Primary School all pupils gain an understanding of natural phenomena. Their curiosity is stimulated to find out why things happen in the way they do. All our pupils develop their skills of enquiry and investigation to encourage their creative thinking. They learn to ask scientific questions and begin to appreciate the way science will affect their future at a personal, national, and global level.
The pupils develop their knowledge and understanding of living things and their life processes, properties of materials and physical processes of electricity, light, sound, natural forces, the earth and the solar system. The school has an extensive range of classroom resources and equipment that the pupils enjoy using to carry out their planned scientific investigations and research. In addition to this, use is made of the school library, pond, garden and allotment along with trips to places further afield; such as the Welsh Harp, Science Museum and London Zoo to name but a few.
